All fieldwork

Pipeline credit you can defend.

THE SITUATION

Marketing at a wire-fraud-protection company runs events, webinars, paid search, gifting, content—and hundreds of new deals close every year. Ask which marketing created that revenue and the room splits. HubSpot credits one set of programs, the Salesforce campaign reports credit another, and the fields on the deals themselves tell a third story. Last-touch reporting hands all the credit to whatever happened right before the deal closed, which everyone knows is wrong and nobody can fix. So budget season arrives, the CMO has to defend spend program by program, and the honest answer to 'which of this pays?' is a shrug.

Almost every growth-stage company ends up here. Marketing activity lives in one tool, revenue lives in another, and the connection between them is a handful of fields that get overwritten every time someone touches a record. This team had even installed a routing tool with attribution features included—those attribution reports sat completely empty. The commercial attribution platforms can do the job, but they are six-figure black boxes: months to implement, rigid about how your funnel is supposed to work, and when the CFO asks where a number came from, the answer is 'the model.' Paying that much for numbers you cannot trace, on top of tools you already own, is a hard purchase to defend.

WHAT WE BUILT

The system keeps two kinds of permanent records inside the company's own Salesforce: every stage a prospect moves through on the way to revenue, and every meaningful marketing touch along the way—a webinar attended, a demo requested, a form filled out in HubSpot. A rulebook covering all 77 live combinations of campaign type and response—checked against the live data with nothing missing—decides what each touch means, what it scores, and whether it earns credit. A step-by-step matching ladder connects each touch to the right person and the right deal, and stamps every record with how the match was made and how confident it is. Attribution views—first touch, last touch before each milestone, the full mix—sit on top as labels, so the underlying records are never rewritten and any number on a dashboard traces back to the touches behind it. ScaledRev designed it to run alongside the automation the team already has, and put the first piece live: hundreds of missing demo-request touches restored, every person matched, the whole thing rehearsed on a copy before it ever touched live data.

WHAT CHANGED

The first piece, already live, has paid off: demo-request history that had quietly gone missing is complete again—460 touch records restored across four campaigns, every person matched—and a review of all 56 demo forms showed leadership which ones to keep and which to retire. The CMO's first-touch dashboard stays live and trustworthy through the transition, and the executive week-over-week numbers were reconciled so definitions finally agree. When the rest of the system goes live, leadership will see which programs create pipeline, how fast prospects move, and where deals stall—from the summary number down to the individual touch—without a new platform license, inside the tools the team already owns.
